New Florida laws go into effect today that seek to control fraud on personal injury protection insurance (PIP). Changes to the law include placing a 14-day limit for seeking treatment after an auto accident. Florida law has mandated that motor vehicle owners carry at least $10,000 in PIP coverage, but the new law caps those claims at $2,500 unless a qualified medical professional determines there is an "emergency medical condition".
